Clear Lake Regional Medical Center named one of nation's Top Performers
WEBSTER, Texas -- Clear Lake Regional Medical Center (CLRMC) this week was named one of the nations Top Performers on Key Quality Measures™ by the Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America. CLRMC was recognized by the Joint Commission for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions.
CLRMC is one of 620 hospitals in the United States earning the distinction of Top Performer on Key Quality Measures™ for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance. CLRMC was recognized for its achievements in the treatment of heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. The ratings are based on aggregation of accountability measure data reported to the Joint Commission during the 2011 calendar year.
“We know that what’s most important to our patients at CLRMC is safe, effective, high-quality care from a compassionate, skilled staff,” said Stephen K. Jones, Jr., CEO. “We are steadfast in our commitment to accreditation and to positive patient outcomes through these evidence-based care processes. We are proud to be named to the list of The Joint Commission’s Top Performers list, and it is truly a testament to the dedication of our 1,900 hospital employees and nearly 1,000 medical staff members.”
“Comprehensive patient care requires a multidisciplinary approach by an entire team, and we have developed a culture here where evidence-based medicine and world class service has lead to remarkable outcomes for our patients,” said Henry Muniz, MD, President of the CLRMC Medical Staff.
Home to the region’s leading provider of cardiovascular services, The Heart & Vascular Hospital at CLRMC cares for thousands of people every year, and is proud of this honor recognizing its treatment of heart attack and heart failure patients. “Caring for our patients is really is such a team effort,” said, Rakesh Shah, MD, Chief of Cardiology at CLRMC. “From pre-hospital providers like EMS personnel, to our Emergency Department staff, as well as our Cath Lab Team and so many others – it really is testament to so many people collaborating and delivering excellence in all they do every day."
“CLRMC’s Top Performer accolade in surgical care is a direct reflection of our commitment to excellence in surgery,” said Hoang Q. Pham, MD, Chief of Surgery at CLRMC. “Caring for surgical patients involves a highly skilled team – from pre-operative and anesthesia staff to all those on our surgery staff, and post-operative care providers. We all work to continually improve patient outcomes through the implementation of best practices.”
This distinction from The Joint Commission comes on the heels of two additional recognitions for the hospital. In July, CLRMC was named the “#1 Safest Hospital in Houston” and one of “Top Five Hospitals” in Texas by Consumer Reports magazine. In addition, the hospital was named among the “Top 10 Best Hospitals in Houston” by U.S. News and World Report.
“These formal recognitions are a result of the dedicated professionals who work very hard to provide a safe, secure environment and to deliver the highest quality healthcare available in the south Houston area,” said Rick Gornto, Chairman of the CLRMC Board of Trustees. “The Clear Lake area is so fortunate to have this first-class medical facility served by such an outstanding group of physicians and staff.”
“From an economic development standpoint, the availability of excellent, evidenced-based, patient-oriented medical care is essential to attracting new businesses and families to the region,” said Bob Mitchell, President of the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership. “From both my personal and professional association with Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, its leadership, doctors and staff, this recognition by The Joint Commission for exemplary performance is well deserved.”
