Holiday Hustle 5K Fun Run to benefit Laura Recovery Center

FRIENDSWOOD, Texas -- Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season to release some stress and tension. The City of Friendswood Community Services/Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the annual Holiday Hustle 5K Fun Run / Walk and Kid's K on Saturday, December 1, 2012.

The event will be held at Stevenson Park, 1100 S. Friendswood Dr. with day of registration from 7 – 7:45 a.m. The Kid's K Fun Run (12 and under) will start at 8 a.m. and the 5K Fun Run / Walk will start at 8:15 a.m. and is open to all ages. All 5K runners will be chip timed.

Cost of the event is $10 for the Kid's K and $20 for the 5K for registrations by November 30. Participants can register at Friendswood City Hall, by calling 281-996-3220, or by e-mailing rec@friendswood.com. All registrations on the day of the race at Stevenson Park will be an additional $5. T-shirts will be guaranteed to those who register by November 20.

All proceeds from this event will go to the Laura Recovery Center Foundation in Friendswood. To find out more information on the LRCF, or to make a donation to the LRCF, please visit their website at www.lrcf.org.

Runners receive a trophy for top female and top male in each age group, plus overall male and female. All walkers and Kid's K participants will receive a ribbon. Parking will not be allowed in the Stevenson Park pool parking lot, so please park behind City Hall or on Shadwell. After the event, door prizes will be given away to a lucky few and a pancake breakfast will also be served for all participants.
